Congratulations Capella Winterguard

The Capella Winter Guard (formerly known as Cordova Independent) took first place in the WGI (Winter Guard International) REGIONAL competition in Nashville this past weekend.

Capella members consist of high school and college students, including CADETS Sara Woodard, Madison Stewart, Seidi Lopez, Midori Eng, Bre Henriksen, former Cadet Megan Stewart, and Cadet Alumni Emily Anderson.  Cadet Alumni Sara Abramson is one of the instructors.

Currently, Capella is ranked number one in the world in their class (Independent A), an extremely prestigious honor which they will continue working on hard to maintain!  These young ladies and one gentleman, work very hard at their art and their 2008 show THE SHADOW WITHIN is simply beautiful!  They have several competitions left in their season (Atlanta WGI Regionals, SCGC Championships in Chattanooga, WGI World competition in Dayton, Ohio).  If you have the opportunity to see them in action, I strongly suggest you do it!

I am very proud of our Cadets and wish them continued success this season!

WTSBOA Solo and Ensemble Contest Information

WTSBOA Solo and Ensemble Contest will be held Saturday, April 12 at Cordova Middle School.

Students who are interested should see Mrs. Zwissler for a registration form.  The form and entry fee (cash only) is due to Mrs. Zwissler on or before Feb 29.

Students who do participate in solo and ensemble WILL receive extra credit.  While it is not mandatory for students to participate, they are strongly encouraged to.  This is a wonderful opportunity for students to be critiqued and judged on the solo/small group level by highly qualified judges.  Participating in such events also looks very good on college entry resumes.

Performance times will be released a few weeks prior to the event, which I will forward to you.

I have copied and pasted the exact information about the event from the WTSBOA website:
